Cookie Policy

Last updated: 1 March 2026  ·  Effective: 1 March 2026

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit, such as your login session or preferences.

2. How we use cookies

JobNomad uses a minimal number of cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. The cookies we set are strictly necessary for the service to function or improve your experience.

3. Cookies we set

Cookie name Purpose Type Expiry
session Keeps you logged in between page visits. Contains a signed JWT — no personal data stored in the cookie itself. Strictly necessary 7 days (or on browser close if "Remember me" is not ticked)
dark_mode Remembers your light/dark mode preference so you don't have to reset it on each visit. Preference / functional 365 days
csrf_state Short-lived CSRF state token used during Gmail OAuth2 authorisation flow to prevent cross-site request forgery. Strictly necessary 15 minutes (one-time use)

4. Third-party cookies

We do not load any third-party scripts that set cookies (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no advertising networks). The only third-party service that may set cookies is Stripe, which sets its own cookies when you visit our billing or checkout pages. Stripe's cookie usage is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

5. Do you need to consent?

Under UK PECR, strictly necessary cookies do not require prior consent. The session and csrf_state cookies fall into this category — without them the service cannot function. The dark_mode preference cookie is set only in response to a deliberate action (toggling the theme switch), which constitutes implied consent.

Because we do not use non-essential tracking or analytics cookies, we do not display a cookie consent banner. If we add any non-essential cookies in future, we will update this policy and add appropriate consent mechanisms before doing so.

6. Managing cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that deleting the session cookie will log you out of JobNomad. Instructions for common browsers:

7. Changes to this policy

If we change the cookies we use, we will update this page and, where material, notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
